Have been a Digital Technology teacher for the past 16 years in Auckland. Interested in teaching programming and computational thinking skills through robotics, game making and web design.
As a proponent of constructivism in education settings, believe in students gaining skills, techniques and knowledge via various digital technology projects. Have three school-aged children and value all interactions with the students at ASHS.

Prior to becoming a teacher I worked in the design field. This has influenced my approach to teaching Food and Textiles Technology. I really enjoy introducing my students to the creative opportunities in both these subjects. I returned to teaching in 2018 after several years working in real estate. When I’m not at school you will find me on the beach or enjoying time with my family.

Alex Bevin
Technology Teacher
I'm a Hawkes Bay native who studied BEng and worked as a mechanical engineer for several years. I also dabbled in acting while chasing the snow between NZ and Austria in back-to-back winters. Covid brought me home, but the decision to pursue teaching kept me here.
I'm now the industrial design teacher at ASHS, and I think I have the best job in the world. I have a slight bias towards teaching how form follows function, and I believe the best way to have an influence on students is to get to know them through creating physical products. In my free time, I'm a traveler, snowboarder, field hockey coach, and player. I'm always looking for new challenges and experiences, and I'm excited to see what the future holds for me and my students.
